Billionaire-owned and left-leaning are two incompatible things.

If you are gonna share something like that, at least share a link people can look at without having to make an account to see what you are even trying to claim or put your claim in your actual message.

Oh for the love of god. What news outlets are acceptable to you? Cause every single fuckin time I link a news article one of you chucklefucks has a new goddamn problem with it. You won’t listen to right leaning sources which is fine. I get that. But even when I specifically make sure to find a left leaning news source you STILL make up problems with that shit.

I’ll make sure to find a news site run by broke college kids so you’ll find their reporting acceptable.

Also I can read the article just fine without making an account so maybe you just need to get better ad blocking.

Many here dislike ground news and media bias check. Dunno about adfontes and the other. In any case, I gave you the answer. You’re welcome to extrapolate from it, but that was all I intended

Do you see how that might be a problem though? This is like arguing with right wingers. “All the news stations are corrupt and nothing can be trusted!”

At some point you guys are just rejecting everything and deciding to only use stuff you like which is precisely what you accuse the right of doing with shit like fox news.

                • I’m a fan of specific, actionable information. I don’t trust wapo due to bezos personally killing stories and advertisements, per his needs as a billionaire. That said, my statements earlier weren’t my opinions, they were my observations of Lemmy’s preferences and reasons. I was just here to offer agnostic information, until you began asking for extrapolation

Please keep in mind that despite being downvoted, you are not alone with your opinion. I for my part find your argument very compelling. So please don’t let yourself be overwhelmed by the echo chamber!

I’m used to it. Lemmy is one hell of an echo chamber too. It’s actually insane hopping on here and reading comments and then going outside and talking to normal fucking people lol.

I’m not so well versed in American media to answer your question which left leaning media would be acceptable for lemmings.

BUT the Washington post is really a bad example. Just a few days ago the billionaire owner himself published his decision to focus on defense of ‘free market’ and ‘personal liberty’ in the opinion section. And let’s not kid ourselves that he isn’t deciding the direction of the rest of the news paper, that’s the only reason why you buy one.

In 2024, the year of your article, the WP didn’t endorse any presidential candidate. So you seriously want to argue that a left leaning media would NOT endorse Harris over Trump?

So it might be many things, but left leaning, under the current ownership, it is not.

Left leaning history doesn’t mean anything if the current persons there aren’t the same who worked during that left leaning period.

I wouldn’t have said anything about the source if you weren’t making weird claims about a billionaire being left leaning. I don’t even know what you are claiming because the article you shared is behind a sign-in wall and you never made a claim. So what else can I do but complain about your source?

I’m not making any claims about anything. Washington Post has a long history of a left leaning bias. I’m not saying anything about any billionaires.

The only reason I mentioned it at all in my original comment was because in the past I have posted sources and people responded telling me they were invalid because they were right leaning or center. So I specifically went out of my way to find a new outlet that leans left politically and y’all still have a problem with it.

            Impossible to appease you lot.
