Before jumping to any conclusions, you kind of have to try it several times, though. Just once could be a fluke, as there is randomness involved in AI. And the topic of the conversation is completely unclear, so the AI makes something up.

That’s a valid concern. And I think to solve that in a clean way and altogether, they need some options to restrict commenting or voting to subscribers only. Meddling with other features and how communities can be found, so people can keep hiding in Lemmy’s noise… is a very indirect approach and doesn’t go all the way.

I’ve seen a bit of that issue in connection with the All-feed. Back when AI was still largely hated on, we regularly had some amount of downvotes creep into the few dedicated AI communities. And while I support people downvoting the flood of AI related stuff in general news and technology communities, I don’t see any reason to drive-by downvote an AI post in an AI community. But that has stopped since. And I don’t think I’ve seen anyone come in and pick fights or something. It was just some minor but noticeable and constant stream of downvotes. So I can definitely see how these things would be annoying to some people. On the other hand I think people wanting to subscribe to things and having curated feeds, might also be a valid request.

But is that rejection, or what are the consequences? I mean even every denomination of christianity thinks all the other ones are wrong. All the holy books are in itself full of contradictions, so people interpret them and deem every scholar of their own faith wrong, once it opposes their own take on it… So I’m not sure if they even think like that. I mean in practice it turns out that way. Everyone forms tribes and they’re the only ones blessed with the truth. But I think that’s way smaller groups, and kind of the other way round. Because religion is to a large degree about tribalism and not intellectual arguments. Though they have that, too. But it’s slapped on top. Maybe I’ve answered my question with that… 😆

Fair. But the current business model isn’t becoming profitable by growing the userbase. It’s first giving out things for free to grow the userbase, and then becoming profitable by adding enshittification. So I’d argue this is just the more modern approach. But I get the point.

I think it’s fairly uncontroversial that these companies are not profitable. But look at how long it took other web platforms or services to become profitable. For example Youtube or Reddit. They all live on investor money, with the expectation that they will become profitable one day. And OpenAI is fairly young in comparison, so they’re still in that phase. Difference is the ludicrous amount of money they burn through and the extent of the hype.

What do you mean with the word “reject” in this context? I mean they’re all Abrahamic religions and share that foundation. But they all disagree on who is the last prophet. Islam would even acknowledge Jesus. He’s just not the most important prophet. And we christians have all the old Jewish stories in the Old Testament and we study them and deem everything to be true. What the Israelites and all the other tribes did in the Iron Age and how it all came to be. And our messiah was a Jew. So there is a strong bond between those religions. But I’m not very well educated on the Jewish perspective on this renewal and spin-off of their religion.

Weiß nicht was die Linke gemacht hätte. Ich find’s halt nur blöd, dass es eigentlich die Grünen hätten sein sollen, die die Atomkraftwerke abschalten. Waren sie aber nicht, sondern das verdanken wir Frau Merkel. Und soo super ist es auch nicht gelaufen, wenn wir dann mehr Gas und Kohle verstromen. Da hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass die Grünen sich da stark gemacht hätten und laut gewesen wären den besten Weg vorzuplanen.
Und bezüglich Energiewende sehe ich auch ein paar dringende Probleme. Angeblich müssen wir massiv ins Stromnetz an sich inverstieren. Auch um so Probleme wie Dunkelflauten zu verbessern, wo Herr März stattdessen super teure Atomkraftwerke will. Neue Windkraftanlagen bauen ist schwierig in Deutschland schon seit einiger Zeit. Selbst alte Standorte in Betrieb zu halten. Und ich wohne hier in der reichen Vorstadt, wo viele Leute sich super gerne Wärmepumpen kaufen. Oder in eine Solaranlage investieren. Vielleicht sollte man das ein bisschen einfacher machen und dann bezahlen die Bürger das auch noch selber. Wollen, tun das offensichtlich eine Menge Leute hier. Stattdessen machen die Grünen irgend so einen Murks und streiten sich in der Regierung um ein Heizungsgesetz was an viel komplizierteren Hebeln ansetzen will. Und gleichzeitig sehen sie ganz viel Potential überhaupt nicht. Und wer nimmt denn mal die Energiepolitik von Merz auseinander und sagt das ist kompletter schwachsinn, wir haben hier Experten und Wissenschaftler, die sagen wir müssen dies und das machen um die Probleme möglichst Kosteneffizient auszuräumen? Also entweder lese ich andere Artikel über Wissenschaft und Energiewende, oder die Grünen kämpfen irgendwie mit dummen Details anstatt das Richtige zu fordern oder umzusetzen, wenn sie doch schon regelmäßig mitregieren.

Ja, das ist auch mein Punkt. Ich würde die gerne mal nicht in der Opposition sehen. Aber fairerweise machen sie dort auch regelmäßig ganz gute Arbeit, stellen sehr interessante Anfragen und sowas. Scheinbar scheinen sie ein paar intelligente Leute zu haben, die wissen wo man mal genau nachschauen muss. Also ich sehe da durchaus Potential. Aber da das nie passiert, wissen wir auch nicht wie sie mit Regierungsverantwortung im Bundestag dann wirklich umgehen würden.

Vor allem, wenn ich grüne Politik will, muss ich ja auch die Linke wählen. Die Grünen versprechen das zwar gerne, aber machen tun sie es dann sehr halbherzig. Und die Koalition ist eh wichtiger als Ideale. Ich weiß nicht. Ich sähe die Grünen als guten Ersatz für eine:n FDP Wähler:in. Neo-liberale Politik können sie ja halbwegs. Aber sonst wüsste ich jetzt nicht, warum ich die aus freien Stücken wählen möchte.
