    Seems like a wise idea. I kinda always assumed that air ports had systems in place to flip over to war-mode relatively easily, but that was just an unsubstantiated assumption.

    That is a cheap way of increasing number of military airports in case of a potential Russian aggression.

    What do military need that the civilian airport do not have ? True question. Sure the grass trip airfield where hobbyist fly may not be suited for military use, but I would believe that in larger airport, most of the facilites are at least existing.

      Active radar, rather than just passive that looks for transponders.

      Mechanics that are certified to work on military air frames.
      Extra hangars/parking spots, with security controlling access. Parts warehouse.

      Just few things that come to mind.
