Oh wow, who would have thought… The corrupt MAGA SCOTUS turns against Trump.

Of course, the usual suspects Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, voted against the United States and for Trump. But five more justices outvoted the corrupt bastards.

FInally some good news: justice isn’t completely dead in the US.

The dissent here is acting like it’s shocking. In reality it’s horrible that a single person dissented much less four.

This isn’t about pausing payments to ongoing programs. These include completed programs. This is arguing that the US government doesn’t have to pay plumbers after the plumbing is done. Yes, this is how a corrupt real estate developer would and has done things. The SC arguing is fine and legal for the government to do it is despicable. Not surprising knowing this court and what was elected, but still despicable.

Yet his exec order stated that only the President and the AG can interpret the law in the Exec Branch so he won’t accept any SCOTUS rulings against his admin because he knows they’re not enforcable

That’s not quite what it says. When you’re a federal employee who gets fired by BigBallz, but you say “I fall under xyz law and I cannot be fired this way”, the EO says you’re not allowed to do that. The President and AG does, and of course they’re going to rubber stamp the action.

What that means is that those employees have to fight it in court the hard way, even though the law is clear and obvious.

Amy Coney Barrett Is from an inner suburb of New Orleans and went to high school in the city. She might be Catholic to a creepy degree but she’s definitely going to vote differently than Alito or Thomas. New Orleanians are delightfully ungovernable. Sometimes for the worse but we don’t even have common law here. She’ll have a broader perspective than someone who grew up indoctrinated.

She’s from Old Metairie and went to Dominican, for anyone who knows the city. She’s super conservative and I dislike her but she’s going to end up a swing vote when a Bible Belt conservative might not.
