Like I said in the other thread, I vote pokemon. I don’t think you can go too much older, because the audience was just so small relative to more modern games. Scale is a major factor to influence.

I’m saying pokemon. It’s still a dominant franchise today. It’s inspired countless spin offs and copy cats. It made gaming social and the connector for Gameboys a required accessory. Pokemon Go was a covid time revolution. The series is likely responsible for a sizable growth in the gaming market in the late 90s and early 2000s. People who never played a video game can identify Pikachu, and might even have a plushie. We are closing in on 30 years of pokemon being a dominant franchise.

It’s a new game. Unfortunately I think we are now in an era where we can expect new games to run like shit on release, and be improved over the first year.

I think it’s still a useful term there’s always some outliers for individual points, but a eurogame hits most of these.

• limited player interaction, and generally only indirect action.
• players aren’t eliminated
• player choice and action is the primary source of randomization.
• theme and gameplay tend to be less integrated.
• more symmetrical gameplay
• focused more on few in depth mechanics than wider variety of mechanics

It may not necessarily mean a game is European or German as much anymore, but it’s useful to denote the experience you can expect from a game.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

It depends on a lot of things.

• have you spent an entire day or even better a weekend together?
• are you ok with the loss of independence, alone time can be much more difficult after moving in.
• do you have room for their stuff?
• are you ok with rearranging your place, and potentially losing certain decorations or room functions?
• are you comfortable talking about how finances will be managed?
• do you have compatible diets and eating habits?

This is relative. The US is more open about it’s racism and it being bad. Most countries are super racist, it’s just different targets depending on the region.

This is based on the census bureau definition, which is much more inclusive than just large cities. 84/510 urban areas have a population greater than 500k. 198/510 have sub 100k population.

Discrimination is discrimination. Calling one reverse is an attempt to make it sound less bad.
