I disagree with both the premise and the conclusion. Even if skipping corporate stuff for a day is only a mild inconvenience, that is still obviously not convenient. Second, there’s no reason to suspect convenience should strongly impact effectiveness. How much did it inconvenience anyone to boycott South Africa in the 80s?

Maximizing effectiveness for unit of effort is smart. And when a tiny change in share price can make a big difference in CEO compensation, we’d be complete masochists not to use that in our favor. But also even if you’re into maximizing pain, if we wanna talk about permanently going after these corporations then it’s gotta start somewhere. And it’s best to start with getting people to do what’s easy.

The internet. It led to the following:

• Good social change occurred very rapidly from the 1990s-2010s, causing highly motivated pushback from those who didn’t like the changes
• Rising wealth inequality caused by tech billionaires increased incentives and capability for a small number of extremely wealthy people to seize control of media and political power centers
• Foreign dictator governments became more able to more easily spread pro-dictator propaganda
• Media became more decentralized, leading to some good things but also the hijacking of our psychology to spread fear and disgust for the sake of grabbing attention

The thing I hate though is whenever someone interviews Elon it seems like they can’t help but crawl right up his ass. If you wanna see real cringe look at Bill Maher’s interview with him. Now he criticizes Elon, but when he had him on I’m pretty sure he was what that AI video of Trump and Elon was trained on.

Maybe stew beef is different, but I figure if Elon detects he can’t get the interview he wants he’ll bail.

I think everyone has accepted at this point that Trump is extremely stupid and might be borderline mentally challenged. I mean even in the 80s people knew he was dumb, Biff Tannen in back to the future was reportedly based on Trump.
