The 9070’s on eBay are getting cheaper and cheaper the further we get from the launch. I think scalpers underestimated AMD’s stock and they are slowly discovering that.

Immediately after the launch the XT seemed to be starting at $1,200. Now they are down to $800. The non-xt is down to $650.

Depends on how much stock AMD can provide in the coming weeks and months, but I’m still thinking I’ll be able to get one at MSRP this year.

They describe the 5070 as “faster GPU for less money with new features should make this one of the best graphics cards, but we have some concerns”.

Jayztwocents, Linus, Paul’s Hardware, Hardware Canucks, Digital Foundry… Not that I always watch every channel but it seems like a pretty strong consensus.

I’ve been out of the loop for the past few years and just started paying attention to PC parts again recently. Was Tons Hardware always this pro-NVIDIA and anti-AMD? This is the first article I’ve seen so far that isn’t raking NVIDIA over the coals for using AI to misrepresent performance and the MSRP basically being fake.

Meanwhile, TH here seems to be skeptical of the 9070’s performance and stock. Which is fair enough given AMD’s recent history, except that reports have been that AMD has been shipping units for months and was just trying to land on pricing before release. And the pricing that was announced seems pretty good, or at least better than what AMD has been doing the last couple generations. And AMD’s performance claims seem to match what consumer expectations for a generational improvement.

So I should report things like anyone trying to claim the civil war was unrelated to slavery? Or anyone trying to paint the Confederates as anything other than rebels?

Or anyone trying to push ideologies that conflict with scientific consensus like evolution and climate change?

Or the ridiculous notion that capitalism is a good thing?

This may be controversial, but I think the way to combat dog whistles like this is to overuse them and muddy the waters. Make it so the Nazi’s aren sure whether the “pattern noticer” they are interacting with are antisemitic or not.

ISIS went from being an Egyptian goddess and a great band to a poorly translated acronym for a terrorist organization because everyone let the terrorists win on that one. The swastika has been a neat and simple symbol used by a variety of cultures with a variety of meanings ranging from positive to neutral until it was taken by the Nazi’s. 88 is a really neat looking number that’s done nothing wrong.

Society keeps on ceding cultural ground to assholes and the rest of us have to tiptoe through every piece of communication in fear of being associated with them.
