Yeah, I’m certainly only speaking for the West. But here risk has gone up and public sentiment has changed. In the 1980s people would be more likely to cover for a priest. Today they’re more likely to murder that priest. The church is more likely to turn them over to authorities rather than move them to another parish.

You need more than just flight logs. The suspect would have to say something about “he likes them young, like me” or something similar.

Infinite options is bad design for a number of reasons. One is that when everyone’s experience is unique, troubleshooting is impossible. Two is that when you add an option, you have to support that option forever.
Options are expensive, at least if you want to keep your software working for a long period of time.
Depends. If you weren’t going to buy it anyway, it doesn’t cost them anything. And if you’re grabbing a fallen leaf hoping for something, it seems like you aren’t all that interested anyway.

Yes. Our government is actually really transparent. Granted, a lot of this wasn’t apparent until DOGE claimed to bring transparency, and then everything they did was shown to be redundant or worse with existing systems.
