007 can be anyone. James Bond should have relatively consistent features since it’s a character from a book series.

If you want to put a new character in the James Bond franchise but not makes them James Bond, there’s little to argue against that. I just dont see any upside to leashing yourself to that franchise if you want to make something different. The audience won’t be there. It wasn’t there for Ghostbusters.

If that’s the case… it’s better, but I really would rather them not be able to wear the uniform or have police powers off duty outside of an emergency.
