You gonna sue the NYT Musky?
Remember these faces. I wanna see the fascists exiled from polite society.
I didn’t read the post (sorry, it was too long and I’m tired) but the fediverse is equally suited to federated islands as to one fediverse, right? Most people will want the full fediverse but people can also create their separate spaces if desired.
Some more than others. I’m not saying it’s a good thing. I’d prefer we had less power over the world but the current geopolitical order exists with the US at the top. Or do you disagree?
Thanks, I assumed they were centrally created but if they are user customizable this does make it a bit more appealing, although at that point it’s not hugely different from the way subscriptions work now. Could have some use cases though.
I would bet only ‘globally’ before betting on ‘only the Americas’
What do you mean by this? Why would the US be more likely to be hegemonic over the entire world than just the Americas? Their heavy-handed political interventions in Latin America are well-known.
Russia has no hope of anything at this point except vassalage to the PRC. China is exactly what I’m worried about, though.
Just because everyone overestimated Putin’s military at the beginning of the war doesn’t mean they’re not a serious power. While they may not be quite on the level of the US or the CPC, they’re still the 5th largest in the world and I think despite the war casualties, their military production and organization are stronger than they were before. Their abilities in information warfare and nuclear arsenal also made them punch above their weight. I think they will remain a global power barring some kind of major political or economic collapse, and in a post US world might be more likely to come into conflict with the CPC.
Maybe not globally but in the Americas maybe yes?
Of course, global geopolitics means there won’t be a total power vacuum. China & Russia waiting in the wings to tip things in their favor. Maybe Europe and India too if they can get their act together.
Sounds like you deserve downvotes but I think it’s best to place them where they are earned, not just blindly downvote every post based on the user.
I found this article useful. We need to keep tabs on what the wannabe dictators are doing in order to oppose them.
Most of us didn’t vote for this shit but thanks for the empathy bud. I don’t know where you are but American leadership has global implications. I wonder if it’ll be as funny when it affects you?
We can smuggle needed medicines into the US if needed. This might mean they are expensive but worth it for the immunocompromised.
Who is downvoting this? This is important news that will have large negative implications for these organizations.
Maybe I worded it poorly, I know I can still do my thing, but I’m explaining why I would never use this unless it excluded certain instances.
I don’t want to block the users though, I just don’t want to be subject to their authority. Which means I can’t use their communities. Combining them into one big bag subverts my autonomy to do so.
This doesn’t appeal to me at all. The whole point of Lemmy is that I can avoid certain instances that have oppressive admins.
So what are you doing then?
I feel like this is making people unnecessarily afraid. Most protests do not require you to do anything special with your phone. If you expect more confrontational or destructive actions to be happening then this is a good idea but most protests I’ve been to are not like this.
This is literally the core idea of the green new deal which is somehow now a conservative boogie man.
