Extruded aluminium you can often bend back and forth quite few times before it snaps. Cast aluminium will just start to crumble at the bend.

It seems there are ammo vending machines in the south, and no guns yet. By now, thankfully, they are exclusive to the Borderlands series.

Same reason vending machines for drinks or cigarettes exist: easy access to capitalize on moments of weakness or craving.
That said the vending machine in question is only in the game Cyberpunk 2077. as far as I know, anyway…
